About Us

In 2022, Maru entered my life with the force of a rocket launch. At just 8 weeks old, she was full of sass, energy, and fearlessness – qualities she still embodies to this day.

Shiba Inus are often misunderstood, largely due to their viral fame on the internet, fueled by memes and cryptocurrency references. However, they are a historic breed with deep roots in Japanese culture. Shibas embody Kan-i (spirited), Ryō-sei (loyalty), and an air of Soboku (modest refinement and dignity). With sharp instincts, agile movements, and a light, elastic gait, Maru is the perfect representation of these traits, amplified tenfold.

Maru’s introduction to dog sports came through a Lure Coursing fun day hosted by the NSWLCA, sparking our passion for the sport. Since then, we’ve never looked back! Over the past year, we’ve participated in various Lure Coursing trials across NSW and VIC, and we’ve also been training in other disciplines like Scent Work, Agility, and SprintDog. In Conformation Dog Shows, Maru earned Best of Breed, awarded by Mr. Satoshi Bessho (Japan), a specialist judge and President of the Japan Kennel Club & World Union Akita Clubs.

This year, we’re excited to continue building on our momentum, with plans to compete in more Lure Coursing, Sprint Dog, and Scent Work trials, as well as trying out Rally-O and GRC.

Ultimately, my goal with Maru is to educate the public about Shiba Inu's and increase breed awareness. I hope to showcase the breed’s remarkable potential and versatility across various sports and activities.
